Obituary for Darlene (Thueson) Tobler
Darlene was born on November 18, 1934, in a home on 16th Ave. in Nampa, Idaho. Her parents, Gail and Lela Thueson, were elated that they finally had a girl—ultimately with four brothers (Elwood, Duane, Larry, and Darrell). She was a vivacious young lady and had many friends. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1953 and later attended and graduated from BYU. In November 1956 she married Don Lee Tobler in the Salt Lake City Temple. She and Lee have 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
She taught elementary school in Skokie, Illinois, in 1957/1958 while her husband received his MBA from North Northwestern University. They moved to New York City in 1958, where five of their six children were born (Lisa, Julianne, Curtis, Craig, and Denise). Brad was born in Connecticut. In succeeding years, they lived in Hartford, Connecticut; Houston, Texas; Akron, Ohio; and later in life in San Antonio, Texas; Mesa, Arizona; and Nampa, Idaho. Between 1958 and 2003, they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Frankfurt, Germany, while her husband served as a General Authority 70 fully supported by Darlene. She and Lee served as President and Matron of the Columbus Ohio Temple between 2004 and 2007. She is an amazing woman and eternal companion.
