Obituary

Daniel "Black Jack" Rodriguez July 14, 1982 – January 18, 2026

On January 18, 2026, our family's resident storyteller, jokester, and steady anchor, Daniel "Black Jack" Rodriguez, passed away. Born on July 14, 1982, in Edinburg, Texas, to Raul and Flor Estella Rodriguez, Daniel lived a life marked by loyalty, kindness, and a quiet strength.

From childhood, his generous heart and steady presence were unmistakable. Daniel was a man of many passions; he was happiest when he was fishing, camping with his family, or working on cars. He had a sharp eye for a good deal, whether it was tools, vehicles, or anything that caught his interest—he even loved the art of the trade, a skill he was truly gifted at.

One of his greatest joys was returning to his roots during the harvest season. He always looked forward to driving the truck and hauling onions, a task that brought back fond memories of his younger years and connected him to the traditions he held close to his heart.

Daniel will be remembered for his remarkable, one-of-a-kind humor. He had the rare gift of making anyone laugh, regardless of their mood, turning even the heaviest moments into something lighter. He believed in the power of good food and quality time, often hosting spontaneous BBQs just to bring his family together to eat, laugh, and create memories.

As a son, Daniel deeply honored his parents, whose love and guidance shaped him. As a father, he was unwavering in his devotion to his three children: Joseph, Khloe, and Elijah. He was their biggest supporter, taking immense pride in every step they took. On March 5, 2024, Daniel entered an exciting new chapter when he became a grandfather to Joseph—a role he embraced with immense joy.

Daniel shared a lifelong, unshakable bond with his siblings, Josephina "Kiki" Perales (Marvin Calero) and Elizabeth "Liz" Lemos (Crystal). Together, they built a foundation of support and laughter that endured through every season of life.

To his nieces and nephews, Daniel was more than an uncle; he was a mentor, protector, and friend. His impact will be carried forever by Juan, Jolycia, Jaelynn, Erik, Oscar, Kingston, Cruz, and Hudson.

Daniel leaves behind a legacy of infectious laughter and a gift for storytelling that kept his friends and family captivated for years. Though our hearts are heavy, we are profoundly grateful for the time we had with him and for the many ways he made our lives better just by being himself.
