Obituary

Dale John Waite (71) passed away peacefully in Caldwell, Idaho after a courageous battle with ALS and Parkinson's diseases on January 18, 2025.

Dale was born in Boise, Idaho on December 28, 1953 to Nola and John Waite. Dale attended and graduated from Vallivue High School in 1972. He met the love of his life, Linda Lou Sims, in junior high school band. They were married for time and all eternity 52 years ago on August 4, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple.

While growing up in Nampa, Dale was a humble member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Nampa 1st ward for nearly all of his life. He served the Lord through several callings such as a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Boise and Meridian LDS temples (12 years), Stake Missionary, Ward Mission Leader, Bishopric Counselor, High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum President, Choir Director and Stake Music Chairman. But his favorite callings were serving as a Scout Master working with the young men and, after retirement, a 3 year service mission at the LDS Caldwell Idaho Orchard.

Dale had a distinguished career in the corrugated container industry. He worked for over 32 years at Boise Cascade in Nampa where he made lifeline friendships; first in the manufacturing facility and then in the design department. He retired after an additional 16 years as a senior designer at Dixon Container in Boise.

Dale was known for his bright smile, creativity, kindness, Christ-like love and his ability to do anything he attempted well. He loved spending time with his family, camping, Dutch-oven cooking, hunting with a rifle and bow, fishing, singing and playing sports especially golf with his grandsons. He developed sewing and embroidery skills making quilts for all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He selflessly cared for his disabled wife, Linda, for 28 years.

Dale is survived by his wife, Linda, and their 3 children, Tina (Kevin) Ellett, Cricket (Jay) Furhiman, Travis (Jodi) Waite; brother ElJay (Pep) Waite; sister Candice (Doug) Young; brother-in-law Harold (Julene) Sims; sisters-in law: Linda (Mike) Linneman, Edie Waite, Janice (Bob) Hobbs, Debra (Gary) Wilson, Kathy (Rick) Andersen;17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Nola Waite; brothers Rodney and DelRay Waite; brothers-in-law Marvin McDorman and Allen Raydean Sims; and great-grandson, Henry Krein.

A viewing will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel in Nampa on Friday, January 24th, 6-8 PM with the funeral services on Saturday, January 25th at 10 AM at the LDS Northside Church at 18463 Northside Blvd, Nampa followed by a graveside service at Kohlerlawn Cemetery (76 Sixth St N, Nampa).
