Brent
Barrus
d. Mar 2, 2025
Brent Eugene Barrus was born at home in Fairview, Wyoming, on the twenty-first day of October 1934. He was the 2nd of 7 children.
The family lived on a farm and milked 10 to 20 cows by hand.
At 10 years old, the family left Wyoming and moved to Wendell, Idaho.
Brent met Luana while going to school at Ricks in Rexburg, and not long after, they were married in the Logan Temple. Paul came to join them in February 1954. Brent was then called on a mission and moved near Luana's parents in Nampa to help during the years Brent served in the LDS Eastern States Mission. Brent was one of the last missionaries called to serve and leave a family at home.
Upon returning home, Brent had a number of jobs and business ventures. He started out farming, and at year's end, when calculating his income, decided that other ventures would have to pay better. Those include owning and operating a Sinclair gas station in Nampa and becoming a journeyman glazier. The glazing trade led him to start his own glass shop as Meridian Glass in 1976. This led him to help on building projects throughout most of the western states.
During these years Joyce, Joe, Lynette, and Wes were welcomed to the family. Dad stayed busy being involved in the church and with the community with positions as PTA president, Elders quorum president, scoutmaster, and quick response unit volunteer and spent his recreation time square dancing, fishing, and hunting.
After selling the glass shop, Dad and Mom served three full-time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Nigeria, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, Maryland. Also in his "retirement years" he purchased a backhoe and enjoyed helping family, neighbors and friends with many projects. Fishing and hunting adventures to Alaska, Canada, and Mexico were enjoyed with many family and friends.
Brent leaves behind 5 children, 16 plus grandchildren, and 10 plus great-grandchildren with many spouses and those he simply claims as family.
