Bill Darrell Coates, 81, of Nampa passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 at a local care center. Bill was born In Nampa, Idaho May 26, 1937 to William Joseph Coates and Sarah Ellen Yoast Coates. He was a happy little boy, but did not want to go to school. He wanted to stay home and play...because he said he was smarter than the teacher. He attended Lakeview, Central and Nampa High Schools graduating in 1957. After school he went to work for Minor-Breckon Motor Co. and then Blaine Breckon driving cars. He loved sports, high school, especially Nampa High, College of Idaho and the best was Boise State Football. He lived most of his days with his brother DeWayne, taking care of his mom after his dad died in 1984. Bill and his brother DeWayne lived together many many years and even shared the same room at Meadow View Nursing & Rehab Center. We thank Meadow View for the gentle and loving care Bill received. Bill was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was sealed to his parents in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He held many callings including a mission call to the Family History Center where he served over 25 years. He loved helping others find their ancestors. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Deloris; his brother DeWayne; nephews Ken Bort, Shawn Ostyn and Dick Wood (known as skip); nieces Susan Meyer and Kathy Griffith. He is survived by his sister Imogene Newbrey of Washington and her children: John, Mark, Luke, Matt, Lynn, Patience, Prudence all of Washington, Jean Marie of Oregon, Julie of California; sister Betty Ostyn of Nampa and her sons Alan and Chris; Deloris's children: Melody George Wayne, Diana, Kenneth and Tandi all of Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 121 Canyon St in Nampa with a viewing from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services.
