Betty
Parnham
d. Dec 31, 2025
Our mother, Betty Parnham, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025 in Nampa, Idaho at the age of 100 years of age. Mom was born in Pekin, Illinois on December 11, 1925 to Clarence Chabino and Mary R. Barrick, their only child.
After her parents' divorce, her mother remarried and had 3 boys and 3 girls, all half siblings to mom. She remained close with her half sisters,
Mom met her husband, Walter Parnham, in East Peoria, Illinois and they eventually were married in Laredo, Texas on January 9, 1943, while dad was receiving training in the Air Force.
After the war they had five children: Roger, 79, of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Doug, 76, of Nampa, Idaho, Scott,74, of Manteca, California, Brad, 67, of Morton, Illinois and Holly Rankin, 65, of Forest City, North Carolina
Our family spent time living in Arizona on 2 different occasions. Mom and Dad owned and operated an A & W Root Beer stand during the 3 years spent in Phoenix on their first trip. Mom loved Arizona and hiking in the desert. Moving back to Tremont, Illinois and then East Peoria, Illinois, our father started a construction business while mom stayed at home raising kids. She became a devout Christian and spent many years praying for her wayward children. One by one we each made a personal commitment to Christ as our savior and redeemer. She was also an active church member in her local church in Morton.
She loved to cross stitch, read mystery novels, work crossword puzzles, listen to music, travel, cook and spend time in the sun at the local swimming pool.
She served as a volunteer at the Peoria Pregnancy Center for 17 years and was a volunteer also at the Peoria Rescue Mission.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1991.
Mom leaves behind her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. We will sorely miss her presence but know she is now with her savior and Lord.
