Betty Gaye Workman-Frickey

1929 - 2026

Betty was born on October 6th, 1929, and passed away on January 28th, 2026, at the age of 96.

With great gratitude for her life, we announce the peaceful passing of the beloved Betty Frickey, age 96, of Nampa, Idaho. She was born on October 6th, 1929, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, kindness to others, and quiet strength.

While Betty was born in Nampa and later resided there, she was proud to have grown up and met the love of her life, Jack Frickey, in Melba, Idaho. In 1946, young and in love, they ran off to Winnemucca, NV, to get married and start their life together. They traveled; they built homes and created a beautiful family with 4 children. They were happily married for 49 years before Jack's passing.

This is a poem Jack sent to Betty while he was in the service.

HEAVENLY LOVE

I do believe the Lord above, created you for me to love. He picked you out from all the rest, because he knew I'd love you best. I had a heart both brave and true, but now it's gone from me to you. Take care of it as I have done, for you have two and I have none.

If I go to heaven and you're not there, I'll paint your face on the golden stair: So all the angels will look and see, exactly what you mean to me.

If you're not there by judgment day, I'll know you've gone the other way. I'll give the angels back their wings, their halos, and all the other things. And just to show you my love is true, I'll go to hell dear, just for you.

by Dr. Lopeman, USN

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Artie and Golden Workman; her siblings, Richard and Theora; her loving husband of many years, Jack Frickey; and her sons, Jack and Mark. She is survived by her two children, Steve (Julie) and Cheryl (Don); ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.

Betty was the definition of selfless, loving others unconditionally and always placing the needs of her family and friends before her own. A natural storyteller with a quick wit and a spirited "spitfire" personality, she was a busy bee who thrived on being social and staying active. She loved to travel, knit, sing, play games, dance, cook, and bake, finding joy in both the simple moments and shared celebrations. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, wholeheartedly taking gentle care of others, creating a warm and well-fed home. Her grandchildren would describe her as the most amazing grandma that ever lived, and if you asked her, she would name each and every grandchild name by name with pride.

To celebrate Betty's life, laughter, and lasting legacy, family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, from 1pm to 3pm, at the location of 314 Caldwell Blvd., Nampa 83651.

Food will be provided.
