Bernice LaRee Nelson Ashcraft passed away at home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the age of 97. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, at the LDS Church building located at 607 W. Locust Lane in Nampa, Idaho. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300 Bernice was born August 21, 1920, at Chapin, Idaho to Kenneth Nelson and Letha Cover Nelson. She resided in the Nampa and Rupert areas. Bernice married Rex Ashcraft on August 6, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Besides being a homemaker she worked at the Minidoka County Hospital and retired in 1983. Bernice and Rex served an LDS mission for the church in 1990 in South Dakota and also served together in the Boise LDS Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; and two great-grandsons; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Ashcraft. Survivors include her children: Letha (Ron) Fuller, Ken (Sandra) Ashcraft, Ron Ashcraft, Dianne (Marty) Riches, Becky (Torsten) Kunkel, and Tauna (Dave) Landrum; 40 grandchildren, 136 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
