Bernadine Mokihana Sandou (née Tauʻa), 79, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. Bernadine was born on February 6, 1946, in Honolulu, on the beautiful island of Oʻahu. She was truly Hawaiian at heart and carried the spirit of aloha with her throughout her life. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After completing her education, Bernadine worked as a School Administrative Services Assistant (SASA) at Waiahole Elementary School. She had a deep love for the children and cared for them as if they were her own, especially during times of need. She and her husband spent majority of their time in Meridian, Idaho before moving to Fort Worth, Texas in 2020. She is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, Aroquiaraj "Raj" Sandou; her sons Steven, Daniel, and Marty Kauvaka; her siblings Leona, Claudine, Donna, Gale, Patricia, Annie, Laureen, and Gabriel Kanamu, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary, and her parents, Gabriel Kanamu Tau'a and Annie Leiloke Kanahele. Bernadine had a passion for genealogy and enjoyed working on arts and crafts throughout her life. Her love for people and her constant selflessness were what made her so cherished by everyone who knew her. Bernadine will be laid to rest after a graveside service at the Meridian Idaho Cemetery on Wednesday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved "Aunty Berna" are welcome to attend and celebrate her life
