Barbara
Covert
d. Feb 16, 2025
Barbara Lee Covert passed away February 16, 2025, at the home of her son, Daniel Patterson, in Parma, Idaho. She was born on July 1, 1966, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Vernon Lee Epperson and Nancy Lee Epperson. The fifth of nine siblings, Barbara grew up in Parma, Idaho, where she was active in church groups and played volleyball. She was well-loved and popular throughout high school, forming cherished friendships, especially with her best friend, Lori Pollard. Many of her fondest memories were spent with friends on warm summer days at the Parma pool.
Barbara married Justin Morgan Patterson in Parma, Idaho, and together they welcomed two children: Daniel Morgan Patterson, born on April 6, 1983, in Caldwell, and Angela Marie Patterson, born on July 9, 1985, in Nampa. In 1987, she met her second husband, Joseph Dean Covert, with whom she had two more children: Amber Nicole Covert, born on July 28, 1988, and Nicolas Joseph Covert, born on December 16, 1989. She also lovingly embraced Joseph's two children, Christopher Covert and Joseph Covert, from his previous marriage, treasuring her time with them.
Barbara obtained her High School Equivalency through the Parma School District. Throughout her life, she lived in Parma, Caldwell, Pocatello, and Ontario, Oregon, but Pocatello became the place she called home, where she built a close-knit community of friends whom she considered family. Among them was Lori Kell, her dearest companion, along with the Adams, Bettys, and the Covert/Smith families. Barbara dedicated much of her career to serving others, working as a CNA in the medical field before transitioning into retail, where she flourished at the Idaho Youth Ranch. There, she made lifelong friendships with Tarissa Taylor and Amy and found joy in giving back to those in need. Her passion for the Idaho Youth Ranch extended beyond work—it became her favorite place to shop.
Barbara's greatest joys in life were spending time with her children and grandchildren. She cherished her adventures with her beloved partner of 14 years, Roy Parker, with whom she shared countless weekends exploring thrift stores, enjoying long drives, and indulging in their favorite outings. She also found joy in the outdoors, camping, fishing, and making unforgettable memories. Whether it was getting her nails done with her children, cooking for neighbors and friends, or turning an ordinary day into something special with her humor and warmth, Barbara's presence was a gift to all who knew her.
Her children will always remember her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and the way she could turn any challenge into a moment of light and love. Her grandchildren, too, will forever carry the love she poured into them. Barbara's bond with her siblings was filled with laughter and shared memories—her brother Jeff will always remember their favorite comfort food, pork chow mein, and movie days, while her sister Jenny fondly recalls their late-night neighborhood watches and childhood adventures.
Now reunited in heaven with her parents, Vernon and Nancy Epperson, her beloved sister Karen Epperson; brother, Vernon Lee Epperson Jr.; and her husband Joseph Covert. She is survived by her children; sons, Daniel Patterson, and Nicolas Covert (Kristal Covert); daughters, Angela Werly (Ronnie Werly), and Amber Phillips (Josh Phillips); her cherished grandchildren, Zechariah, Marisa, Krystal, Kylea, Kayden, Brooklyn, Izaak, and Ronnie Jr.; siblings, Jeff, Jason, and Jennifer; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on March 15, 2025,at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa, ID 83651.
