Obituary for Shirley Jean Hall

Shirley Jean Torske Hall, at age 81, died of Alzheimer’s disease on May 24, 2019 at The Cottages of Payette, Idaho. Shirley was born on December 4, 1937 in Heartwell, Nebraska to Doris Jean and Ernest Lyman Torske. She was the fifth child in the line of fifteen. She graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1954.
Shirley met the love of her life, Louis Ray Hall, of Marsing, Idaho while visiting her aunt and uncle. They married on September 27th, 1956, in Vancouver, Washington. Shirley and Louis moved to Nampa Idaho a short time later, were they worked and raised three children in the same home for 50 years.
Shirley shared her wonderful big heart, endless love, beautiful smile, and compassion towards all people while working as a CNA for many years in Nampa Senior homes and then worked for the Nampa School District at Central Elementary School as the kitchen manager until she retired in 2000.
Shirley had a green thumb when it came to growing beautiful roses and her back yard was a beautiful rose garden. She was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook and her dinner rolls, pies, and cinnamon rolls are still famous! Shirley made every holiday special and the family always looked forward to spending time at her home for the holidays.
She loved to go camping and fishing all over the country with her husband, Louie and usually extended family and friends were involved too. Shirley loved life and she loved her family. She had an infectious smile and personality. She will be missed greatly.
Shirley is survived by her daughter: Penny Lattimer, Son: Gary Hall, three Grandchildren: Jeremy Hall and family, Ryan Lattimer and family, Dawndie Keyse and family, and 12 great grand children. Four brothers: Ken, Ron, Ernie, and Stan Torske, and two sisters: Margaret Crisp and Judy Anderson.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, husband: Louis R. Hall, daughter: Debbie Renae’ Hall, 4 brothers: Don, Tim, Gary, Gene and 4 sisters: Louise, Doreen, Gwen, and Cindy.
Shirley’s graveside funeral service is scheduled for: 11:30 a.m. at: Melba Cemetery on Wednesday May 29, 2019. A Reception will follow at the Melba Senior Center. All are welcome to attend, to visit with Shirley’s family and celebrate her wonderful life.
