Obituary for Richard Lee McRoberts

Richard Lee McRoberts was born on July 6, 1951, in Detroit Michigan, to Betty and Allyn McRoberts. He was the youngest of three children. His sister Sharon was the oldest and then his brother Larry.
His family moved to Southern CA when he was 6 weeks old, where he was raised, and at age 14 met the love of his life, Maryann. They were married on May 9, 1971 in (one of the classier establishments of) Las Vegas, NV (it was actually the courthouse). They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975 and were sealed for eternity on April 16, 1977 in the Los Angeles Temple. Together they had 6 beautiful children and also lovingly raised their two nieces.
Rick was a jack of all trades but primarily a technician and could fix most anything. Much of his career was at Micron Technology, but his most memorable job was for WMD Tech, where he built dummy bombs to be used for law enforcement & military training.
Rick loved creating memories with his loved ones. He enjoyed the outdoors, shooting, boating, fishing, camping, ATV rides and most of all, taking a moment to watch a beautiful sunset at the close of a day.
His priority in life was making sure his wife and children were provided for; and teaching them about the Savior and serving the Lord.
Sunday dinners were an icon in the McRoberts’ household. He was a tremendously generous and loving person, always welcoming anyone into our home. He was open about the household standards and value though, (so out of respect, some of our friends would cover any tattoos and the boys would remove an earring if they had one).
Rick passed away at home surrounded by family, looking at the mountains he enjoyed to watch from his sliding glass door. It was a known rule, not to park campers or anything back there, which would obstruct his view 

Dad had a powerful testimony of our Lord and Savior and great love and appreciation for his friends and ward family. Many of you probably recall his big hugs, firm handshake, and even telling people he loved them… this was the softer side of Dad that came later in life. He was a truly genuine person. Though he will be missed, it was a great blessing to have him as a friend, father, mentor, and example in this life.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann; his children: Mike (Tracey), Danny (Arisa), Christine, Ron, Dana (Brett), Jessie, Tammy (Dino), Sandy (Larry); with 17 grandchildren: Meagan, Tyler, Makalya, Jacob, Tiffanie, Nicholas, Gage, Lucas, Tyler, Mariah, Sydnee, Saydee, Kayden, Ronan, Eternity, Elliauna, Aaven; and 6 great grandchildren: Jaxon, Cole, Asher, Callie, Taisen, Aiden, with another on the way.
