Leonard Bond Hennis, 86, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2015, after a life filled with love for family and work. Leonard was born in Nampa, ID, May 8, 1929, to Walter D. and Lucile I. Bond Hennis. He lived all of his life in Nampa, attending Scism School and graduating from Nampa High School in 1947. He farmed until he was drafted into the army in January 1951. Leonard married Olive Lurenna (Renna) Hartley in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 6, 1951. They soon moved to Lompoc, CA, where Leonard was a medic at the U.S Army hospital at Camp Cooke. He was then sent overseas to Korea, serving as a field medic. After two years of military service, he returned to Nampa to resume farming, which kept him busy for nearly 50 years. Leonard also served as Bishop of the Nampa 7th Ward for five years and later served with Renna at the Boise LDS Temple for several years. Leonard enjoyed spending winters with his family in Pismo Beach, CA and at their condo in St. George, UT. He enjoyed trips in his Cessna, with his children Bryan and Jolene, who were also pilots. He loved landing on an airstrip on his farm to take his grandchildren for short flights. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Renna, and children Susan Cutler, Jolene Williams, Bryan Hennis and Kristin Stults and their spouses. He is also survived by grandchildren Lara Cutler Crandall, David Cutler and Andrea Cutler Baggs, Kyle, Sean & Alison Williams, Amia & Bridger Stults and 7 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his older brother Stephen and his twin brother Leland and sisters Margaret Davis and Nancy Getter. He was preceded in death by an infant son, grandsons Brent Cutler and Andrew Williams, and siblings Rodney and Marion. Interment will be at Cloverdale Cemetery in Boise, ID, with a private family graveside service.
