Obituary for Larry Alan McDaniel

Larry Alan McDaniel
August 10th, 1951 - April 23th, 2021

Larry Alan McDaniel, age 69, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Friday April 23rd, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 1st at Zeyer Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life BBQ will follow, at 5:00 pm.

Larry was born in Nampa, Idaho on August 10th, 1951 to Albert Lee and Marguerite Juliet (Borman) McDaniel. Larry graduated from Nampa Senior High School in the class of ‘69, and was later married to Loretta Joyce Bundy on September 20th, 1972.

Larry is survived by his wife Loretta and children Derek, Justin and Rebecca, his sister Evelyn Roesler, and grandchildren Zoe McDaniel, and Maggie and Abby Kuykendall.

Larry (not Lawrence!) was a carpet/flooring installer for over 40 years, but there was so much more to him than that. He had a passion for music which he inherited from his mother, Marguerite, who owned a local music shop in downtown Nampa, The Music Box. Larry learned how to play accordion at a young age, and picked up drums and cornet along the way. He sang on rare occasions, but he preferred the drums, which he often played with his band at the Elk’s Lodge in Nampa. He also loved fishing and was still a participating member of the Intermountain Bass Anglers club for over 30 years. His passions were inherited by his children who also have a love for music, fishing, camping and the outdoors.

Larry was always there to help anyone in need. He would give the shirt off his back for his family and friends anytime, anywhere. He helped build houses, picked us up when our cars broke down (then later repaired them…), and even came to the call of anyone who needed help around their house or yard.

Later in life he was blessed with his first grandchild Zoe, born to Justin McDaniel and Monica Davis in 2006. He was later blessed with the arrivals of Maggie in 2015 and Abby in 2017 born to Rebecca and Matthew Kuykendall. He loved his grandkids and always spoiled them.

We may be left with a hole in our hearts in his absence, but his voice will stay alive in our hearts as we begin to move forward. He taught us to live, love and find happiness wherever we could. He will be missed by an enormous amount of family and friends who loved him dearly. We love you Dad, and when we meet again in heaven please let us in your band!
