Obituary

Hugh Carr Rigby, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed peacefully from this life after a noble and valiant battle with lymphoma on January 5, 2015, at the age of 77. Hugh was born on April 3, 1937, and was blessed to be raised by his adoring mother, Annetta Iverson, his father, Hugh Carr, and later his step father, LaVern Rigby. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Snelson, on June 16, 1955, in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple. Hand in hand they worked diligently to bear and raise 7 children. His greatest joy in life was found in his family. He worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doing computer programming. He was hired by Ore-Ida Foods to organize their information technology system in Ontario, Oregon. He eventually moved to the corporate offices in Boise, Idaho. He successfully owned and operated his own data processing business for years, making many friends along the way. He retired as a Vice President of the U.S. Bank in 1999 after 22 years in computer operations management. Hugh received great joy from serving others. He served faithfully in his various callings for the LDS church. He served in the National Guard for 8 years. He will long be remembered for his countless acts of kindness and the great love he had for all people. Hugh is survived by his sweetheart, Barbara, and his seven children; Mark (Chris), Steven, Pamela (Eldon) Berry, Christine (Roy) Warren, Curtis (Shawna), Kevin (Pauline), and Matthew. He is blessed with 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and countless extended family members and dear friends. He loved dearly and was dearly loved, and his presence will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, January 9 at the Goddard Ward LDS Chapel, 8620 W. Goddard RD in Boise. A viewing will be held at the church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 8 and again at the church from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
