Obituary for Floyd Andrew Hallman

Floyd Andrew was born February 1, 1935 in Bennington, Oklahoma at the peak of the Dust Bowl. By the 1940’s simultaneous with the Great Depression and stripped of possessions and hope, Floyd was one of over 250,000 migrants leaving for California. His family arrived first in Santa Rosa to work on the 1,750-acre ranch of Fred Mac Murray. Later moving to Oakdale, Ca. and residing there through High School and College at Modesto. Floyd married Shirley Hearn and they had two children, Randal, and Beverley. Floyd & Shirley later moved to Santa Rosa area where Susan joined the family. After a time, they moved back to Modesto. After a brief stay in Utah working with his son, Floyd & Shirley settled in Caldwell where he resided until his passing on August 22, 2019. After the passing of his wife Shirley in 2009, He later married Gwen Gwilliams Openshaw. Floyd and Gwen enjoyed their years together camping, and traveling abroad, and took time to serve a mission together in San Jose, California.
Floyd had accomplished much, had graduated from Modesto College, served in the California National Guard, Played in several bands. He played the Piano, Guitar, Harmonica, Claranet, Flute, and Saxophone. He became a painter of landscape art. He enjoyed watching the cooking shows and creating his own dishes. He also was a Rock hound and became an accomplished maker of Gem Jewelry.
His greatest accomplishments were his example to his family and friends as a genuine honest, loving, man. He gave service to his fellow man and had a deep desire to help others and to lighten their load.
Floyd is survived by Gwen (wife); Brenda Flory (sister), Judy (sister), Marcelene (sister); Randy Hallman (Son), Beverly Hamm (daughter), Susan Kirkaldie (daughter); 12 Grandchildren, 15 Great-grandchildren; numerous step-children, and step-grandchildren that all have enjoyed the precious time they were able to share with him on this earth.
