Obituary for Ernest Dewayne Judd

THE SAD GOODBYE
We are here to remember a great and important man in our lives. Ernest Dewayne Judd (Buster, Ernie, Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle, and Friend)! 1927 ~ 2019 Not that we will ever forget him as he’ll always be in our hearts and minds.
I have never known a man more dedicated to his job, family, and to fixing and saving anything he could! Waste Not—Want Not!!
Growing up on a farm as a boy, he was used to responsibility early, as the eldest son and second child of seven, and half-brother to thee more!
Many of you know his story – how he worked outside the home by age 12 and earned money to pay for whatever he wanted or needed, such as a bicycle or Levis, etc. He transported eggs for his Dad’s business before having a driver’s license. He found his true love, Lois, and married at age 16 in 1943 and began his career with the Union Pacific Railroad in the car repair yards, and retired 41 years later as the General Car Foreman on the staff, chasing railroad derailments, and solving problems across the country.
In his spare time he was School Board Chairman, PTA president, judge and “go-to” person for home repair, construction and other projects during the New Meadows Valley years. Seemed there was nothing he wouldn’t try or couldn’t fix! Still had time for family, hunting, fishing, trips, and other interest. The 35 years from 1959 to 1994, on the Cascade Lake property where family gathered for fun, fishing, and recreation will always be remembered.
After his four year Alaskan adventure and another retirement, he and Lois settled in Weiser to be near family and to help with his Mom. They had established homes in Glenn’s Ferry, the Annex on the Oregon side across the river from Weiser, New Meadows, Nampa, Kent, Hermiston, Alaska and come full circle! Though battling health issues himself, he continued to fill time with caring for Lois until her passing in 2013, and kept their home and garden in good shape along with getting wood and helping people with tax preparation, etc. He spent his last years in Nampa still doing what he could!
His incredible accomplishments, success, and generosity for “just a dumb farm kid”, as he would sometimes refer to himself, have touched and enhanced all of our lives. He had never wanted to live without purpose and independence! So we will trust he passed on in peace to meet those who have gone before to look after and do whatever is needed!
Ernie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lois Ivie Judd; his parents Ernest O. Judd and Pearl (Reitz); sisters: Hazel Robinson, Rosalie Nelson, Marilyn Ennis; her brother Harold Judd; and a great-granddaughter. He is survived by his two children Linda (Rich) Cannon and Ronald (Tootie) Judd; five grandchildren: Diane Cain, Darla (Lanzce) Douglass, Mark (Theresa) Spellman, Ronnie (Yolanda) Judd, Meagan (Isaac) Almaraz; eight great-grandchildren: Cassie and Morgan Cain, Addison Douglass, Cloe and Delaney Spellman, Marshall and Brantley Judd and extended family, Cadin Almaraz and extended family.
We hate to say Goodbye! But will always be grateful we were part of your life Dad, Brother, Grandpa, GG Judd, Uncle, Ernie, Dewayne. We will miss you!
We as a family would also like to thank Harrison's Hospice for all of their help in taking care of Ernest.
