A few words can never describe what a wonderful person our mother was. She was devoted to her wonderful husband of 60 years and felt the void in her life for the past seven years after his passing. We know they are together now in Heaven and glad to be reunited. Dimice was born in Bogue, Kansas to Frank and Helen (Stinemetz) Wilber, October 4, 1929, the eldest of three children. The family farm was lost during the Dust Bowl catastrophe. Times were hard and like many, the family hit the road to find work. Mom reminisced often about having to walk miles to school with her brother sometimes or riding a horse to school at other times. She was grateful and proud of her parents for working so hard to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Her mother would order clothes and shoes from the Sears & Roebuck catalog and Mom thought she was a miracle worker for always ordering the right sizes. The family eventually landed in Caldwell in 1942 and Mom graduated from Caldwell High School in 1947. After graduation, she went to Superior Western Beauty School in Nampa and worked there until she met her future husband Charles (Chuck) Dyer, at a dance in Nampa. They were married September 5, 1948. After living in Nampa and Meridian, the couple settled in Middleton where Dad owned Chuck's Barber Shop for many years before retirement. If Mom could have described herself, she probably would have said that she was organized, loved to garden, her home, and cooking, but baking was her true enjoyment. You could always count on yummy goodies for birthdays, holidays, and get togethers and you never went hungry at her house. She also was a devoted pet owner doting on the family dog, Maxie, who preceded her in death by only a few days. There are a lot of wonderful mothers but we thought ours was the very best. We were not the only children who called her Mom. Many friends did as well which tells you a lot about her appeal. She loved the two of us and was proud of our personal and professional accomplishments. As children she encouraged our interests and stressed the importance of keeping open minds and hearts. Sage advice she extended to her only and much beloved grandson. She was a stay-at-home Mom and always had after school goodies ready for us. Hot out of the oven cookies were a big hit. She remained close to her wonderful brother and sister and was thankful to have them and their families in her life. Heartfelt thanks to Uncle Blaine and Aunt June and Aunt Ermal Lea and Uncle Harold for being there for Mom all the days of her life, especially those final days that were heart wrenching for all of us. Mom was a truly nice person and all who knew her loved her. She was fun loving and she and Dad had many good friends. They liked to exchange meals and play cards. Friends Mary and Boyd and their daughter Vicki provided much appreciated support and care during Mom's final days. Mom's passing leaves grieving family and friends but all lives were enriched by having had her in their lives. Surviving family are daughters Rhea (Mike) and Keely; grandson Steven; brother Blaine (June) Wilber of Ontario; sister Ermal Lea (Harold) Bowers of Marsing, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses, doctors, and care givers at the Boise and Nampa St. Alphonsus Hospitals, Trinity Mission Health & Rehab of Holly, and Horizon Home Health & Hospice for their care and compassion during her last days, and Zeyer Funeral Chapel. A memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise. Please, no flowers, but if you could take a moment to remember our mother, we'd appreciate that, and so would she.
