Obituary for Deva Rosene Muchow

On May 21, 2019, Mrs. Deva Rosene Muchow, 79, passed away at her home in Melba surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Born June 30, 1939 in Nampa, ID, Deva was the middle of seven daughters and one son from parents Willie and Venera Hoagland. She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother, LaMar and a sister, Arlene. Her remaining family; husband Bill, son and daughter-in-law Devin and Sue Muchow, daughter Janie Muchow, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five sisters: Shirley Hughes, Luwilla Weber, Gail Kreller, Wyoma Sam Fong and Eldene Alexander. All will miss her very much.

Raised on a farm in Melba, ID, Mama was well known for her spunky, sassy personality and very much admired for her honest hard work ethic. In her younger years, she loved horseback riding, barrel racing, and playing soft ball. In fact, with her sisters and a few friends Grandpa Hoagland had an entire soft ball team. Deva pitched and led the team to the state championship twice. After graduating from Melba High School in 1957, she lived and worked in Boise. In 1973, she brought her family back home to Melba and continued farming with her dad.

She loved to fish and hunt with her husband and son. She enjoyed being outdoors but most of all loved watching her children and then grandchildren participate in sports and rodeo. Mama wasn't all about play, she worked very hard all her life; whether it be in the fields, driving a tractor or truck, trapping gophers, bossing corn toppers, or driving school bus. But the biggest challenge she had was taking care of Bill.

As a member of the LDS church, we are at peace knowing that we will see her again one day. Please join us for her services at the Melba LDS Chapel, Tuesday May 28th beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow, Graveside services at 3:00pm at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, ID, off Hwy 55.
