Obituary for Clarence Helon Butler

Clarence Helon Butler, 98, of Kuna, passed away at his home of natural causes on November. 18. Clarence was born December 7, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to Harvey Jonathan Butler and Mary Van Kampen Butler. He was the oldest of six children and grew up in Marrion, Utah, with his parents and siblings. On December 17, 1941, just ten days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor Clarence married Lucile Parker in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had planned to marry in the spring of 1942 but with the war looming he said to Lucie that being drafted was inevitable so they married shortly thereafter. Two years later he was drafted and served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Europe during World War II, where he received a medal for heroism in 1944. Shortly after the war ended Clarence and his dad came to Idaho to purchase a farm, and he has lived on that farm since 1946. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his dad, brothers, and later his sons and grandchildren. His family enjoys many found memories of camping trips on Idaho lakes. The grandchildren still reminisce about those experiences. Clarence was a member of The L.D.S Church and served faithfully in many callings. He was a devoted husband and father and was always concerned about his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife Lucile, Sons; Clarence Kent (Noraye) Butler, Dale Thomas (Kathryn) Butler, David Gene (Sherry) Butler, Michael Lee (Nancy) Butler, Daughters; Alayne (Terry) Chadwick, Linda Kaye (Blake) Dilworth, 18 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday November 23 starting at 1 P.M. at the L.D.S Church located at 3305 W. Kuna Rd Kuna, Idaho. A public viewing will take place just prior to the services starting at 11:30 A.M. and going until 12:45 P.M. at the same location. The burial will take place immediately following the service at the Kuna Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 208-467-7300, condolences may be expressed at
