Obituary for Charles Devere Stanley Jr

Charles Devere Stanley, Jr. was born May 4, 1946 and left this world March 18, 2020. He was 73 at the time of his passing.
Charles was the son of Charles Devere Stanley, Sr. and Alice Stanley. Some knew him as Charles-many of us always thought of him simply as Chuck. Chuck attended grade school and senior high in Marsing, just a few miles down the road from here. After high school he attended machinist training, a profession he worked in for a number of years.
Chuck’s real passion, however, was more founded in creativity. He loved gardening, and became quite proficient at growing and hybridizing lovely Iris plants. His love of Iris was something gained from and shared with his mother. The gardens they grew featured almost 3,000 varieties. He was president of the Gem State Iris Society for several years, and won numerous competitions for the lovely flowers he produced. He also grew killer tomatoes!
He was also an accomplished photographer, and at another point in his life, Chuck extended his creativity into magazine publishing. He produced several different magazines, many of which profiled travel and tourism. The magazines featured many photos Chuck had taken himself.
Chuck was a huge fan of Boise State football, and if he wasn’t found on the sidelines taking photos or in the stands, he would certainly be found glued to the TV for their games every week.
Charles was the father of four children: Charles III, Michelle, Michael and Bradley. He had a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His loving sisters, Bonnie and Devera remained close to him all of his life.
The last several years of his life, he suffered from the effects of diabetes and kidney failure.
Chuck was preceded in death by both his parents, two brothers and his son Michael.
The family wishes to express its thanks to the management and employees of Life Care Center for their devoted care the last several months of Chuck’s life.
God bless Charles, or Chuck or Uncle Chuck, whichever name you knew him best by. May he rest in peace.
